17 Mile Drive

Just outside Carmel is 17 Mile Drive, a scenic route that goes around the peninsula to Pebble Beach. All four entrances to the road are guarded and they charge a nominal fee that is well worth it. Pebble Beach is only accessible by this route.

When approaching from the South, head west on Ocean Avenue and turn right on San Antonio. Then follow 17 Mile Drive until it intersects with Sunset Boulevard in several miles; head west on Sunset Boulevard and follow it. It will turn into Ocean View Boulevard and at the David Street intersection, turn right. At the next intersection, turn left onto Lighthouse Ave. Follow Lighthouse Ave to Del Monte Ave, which will bring you back to CA-1.

From the North, turn right for Del Monte Ave. Turn right onto Lighthouse Ave and continue until the David Street intersection. Turn right onto David and take the next left onto Ocean View Boulevard. Continue on Ocean Boulevard where the street will become Sunset Boulevard. At the 17 Mile Drive intersection, turn right onto it. At the end of the 17 Mile Drive, you will be back on CA-1.
