Morro Bay State Park
Category: Water Access
Morro Bay State Park is home to the 576 foot tall Morro Rock for which Morro Bay is named after. While you cannot climb the rock, the state park allows you to get close to the rock and provides beach access. During whale watching season, this stop is a must!
The Morro Bay State Park also has the Museum of Natural History, where you can learn about the wildlife and history of the area. The bay is home to more than 250 species of birds, including black oystercatchers, great blue herons, and peregrine falcons.
The Morro Bay State Park Sand Spit is to the south of the main park and is less developed. To reach it, you can either walk from Pecho Road or take a boat.
