Traveling part of the Teton Scenic Byway, this drive leaves the Snake River and heads into the Big Hole Mountains culminating with spectacular views of the Wyoming’s Teton Mountains.

The drive begins in the town of Swan Valley and travels on ID-31 to Victor. Before leaving the town of Swan Valley, head 3 miles to the northwest on US-26 to the bridge over Snake River (V1). Snake River is one of the largest and longest contributors to the Columbia River and at the bridge, you can see the magnificent river flow around the hills and into the canyon.

While you are near the bridge, consider a side trip down Forest Road 58 to see the Fall Creek Falls (H1). Plunging 60-feet, the sight of cascading waters pouring out of the cliffside into Snake River below is breathtaking.

This scenic route begins where the US-26 and ID-31 meet and the drive heads east. The country road passes rolling hills of barley and wheat as you climb up to the Big Hole Mountains.

Once you reach the Big Hole Mountains, the drive follows the rim of the Pine Creek Canyon. Take advantage of the turnouts to observe the ancient lava flows and panoramic views.

The road will descend into the valley where deer, elk, and moose frequent Pine Creek. Within a few miles, the road climbs up again to Pine Creek Pass at 6,754 feet of elevation.

Descending again from the pass, the wildflower-covered valley opens on the Grand Tetons offering grand vistas of carved jagged peaks and U-shaped glaciated canyons. Our scenic drive comes to an end in Victor. From here, consider driving South on ID-33 to WY-22 and WY-390 to explore the Grand Teton National Park, or head north on ID-33, joining onto ID-32 and US-20 to head to Yellowstone National Park.
