Bridge of Flowers
Category: Bridges
The town of Shelburne Falls is renowned for its Bridge of Flowers. Built in 1908, the trolley bridge was a vital link at the time, but the advent of the automobile and trucking industry led to its demise only 19 years later. Overgrowing with weeds, the bridge was transformed by the Shelburne Falls Woman’s Club in 1929 and planted with an incredible array of flowers, trees, shrubs and vines. Admire the beauty with a walk across the 400-foot span, enjoy views of the Shelburne River and explore the quaint town of Buckland on the other side.
