Smugglers Notch
Category: Side-Trip
Smugglers Notch is a narrow pass through Mount Mansfield, the tallest mountain in Vermont at 4,393 feet of elevation and Spruce Peak. It is replete with gargantuan boulders and caves which are great for scrambling. Many hikes leave from here, including to Bingham Falls, an easy 1.6-mile round trip hike through wildflowers and forest culminating with a dip in the swimming holes above and below the falls. The Notch Road is closed in winter.
