At 7-miles long, Park Point Recreation Area is the world’s longest freshwater sandbar. The spit divides Lake Superior and Superior Bay. Once you pass the homes and other commercial buildings, discover a sandy life-guarded (in season) swimming beach, bird-watching, and the Park Point Nature Trail which passes the ruins of the state’s first lighthouse, Minnesota Point Light.
