Starting to the north of Yellowstone Lake, the 1-mile hike along the Mud Volcano Trail brings you to a geyser which emits sulfur fumes. Although the rotten egg smell isn’t appealing, the geyser’s warmth keeps the snow from collecting during the winters and bison flock here.
