Sometimes it is surprising that there are areas unreachable by roads. Portions of the Verde River Canyon are not, but fortunately, the Verde River Canyon Excursion Train provides a way to explore the canyon. The 40-mile round trip departs from Clarkdale and brings you to the Perkinsville ghost town and back in about 4.5 hours.
