At 12,095 feet, Independence Pass is the highest paved pass in Colorado. Make sure your camera batteries are fully-charged. Get out and hike. The Discovery Trail offers wheelchair access to the forest, and the Braille Trail was the first of its kind, offering an easy walking path for sensory exploration. Remember to carry water with you and be aware of altitude sickness. Note the road is closed in mid-November to Memorial Day weekend. If you’re coming from the other direction, the road opens again at Tin Lake. Check road conditions before heading out.
Get directions from your start address to the beginning of and including this scenic drive. Choose either an alternate ending or same as start.
