From Colorado Highway 65, turn west onto Forest Road 100 and follow the dirt road for 10-miles to reach the Land’s End, the edge of the Grand Mesa, for a fantastic view of the surrounding valley. The beautifully-handcrafted ranger Observatory was built by the Works Progress Administration and Civilian Conservation Corps from 1936-37. Stop at the Raber Cow Camp, where in the 1940’s, ranchers lived during summer while cattle grazed. This road is closed during the winter.
