Walpack Center has been a ghost town since the 1960s when people left to accommodate the proposed Tocks Island Dam. The plan was never executed and the buildings that remain in the village date from 1850 to 1950. History buffs will enjoy 1-mile one-way interpretive Military Trail which begins in front of Van Campen Inn.
